Job: Ex-SOLDIER
Age: ~30
Height: 6'1"
Weapon: Masamune
Birthplace: Nibelheim
Official Bio: Even amongst the elite troops of SOLDIER, Sephiroth is known to be the best. His past is locked away in a confidential file held by Shinra, Inc. His giant sword, which only he can handle, has extremely destructive power. Said to have disappeared in a battle years ago, his current whereabouts are unknown. |
Extended Bio:
Sephiroth is the son of Professor Hojo and Lucrecia, created in an experiment called the Jenova Project. Professor Gast and his team began the Project thinking that they had found the body of a Cetra frozen in ice, and Gast named this Jenova. Through the Jenova Project, they aimed to create a being with the powers of the Cetra, but while Sephiroth has powers beyond that of any human, he is no Cetra.
The rest of Sephiroth's story is largely shrouded in mystery. His mother died soon after his birth, and he was told that her name was Jenova. He likely spent much of his childhood in a laboratory under the charge of Professor Hojo, whom he never knew was his father. Once he joined SOLDIER, he soon became known as a great swordsman and the hero of the Wutain War. Despite his cold and almost apathetic personality, people looked up to and admired him as the Great Sephiroth.
After the war's end, Sephiroth was sent on a mission to Nibelheim to inspect a malfunctioning reactor. He was accompanied by Zack, another SOLDIER, and Cloud, a regular trooper. It was in the reactor that he discovered that Hojo was using Jenova cells and Mako to create monsters, and Sephiroth began to wonder whether he had been created in the same manner. He confined himself to the basement library of the Shinra mansion for days, reading countless books on the Jenova Project. What he learned sent him into madness. He burned the village and went to the reactor to retrieve his "Mother." Once there, first Tifa's father, then Tifa, Zack, and finally Cloud all threw themselves in his path. Cloud managed to throw him into the reactor's Mako pit, but it seems that Sephiroth can't die so easily.
