Barret rescued her from the burning of Corel when she was only a baby and raised her as his own. Her mother Eleanor died in the fire, and her father Dyne, Barret's best friend, disappeared, presumed dead. Marlene, however, is quite happy with Barret for a father, and is also very attached to Tifa. She can be very shy, but has no trouble with being left in charge of Tifa's bar.
