Job: Leader of AVALANCHE Age: 35 Height: 6'4" Birthdate: December 15 Blood Type: O Weapon: Gun-Arm Birthplace: Corel Village Official Bio: Head of the underground resistance movement, AVALANCHE, Barret is fighting the mega-conglomerate Shinra, Inc. which has monopolized Mako energy by building special reactors to suck it out of the planet. Barret depends on brute strength and his "Gun-arm" to see him through. His wife died in an accident several years ago, and he now lives with his daughter Marlene. Extended Bio: Barret hails from Corel, once a coal-mining town. About four years prior to the game, Shinra came to the town offering to build a Mako reactor there. Barret, along with most of the other villagers, agreed that times were changing and that no one used coal anymore. So the reactor was built. While Barret and Dyne, his best friend, were out of town, there was an explosion at the reactor. Shinra blamed it on a "rebel faction" and burned Corel to the ground. Troops attacked Barret and Dyne as they tried to return to the village. Their gunfire mangled Barret's right arm, and caused Dyne to fall into a ravine. Barret went on to the village to search for his wife Myrna, but he only managed to save Marlene, Dyne's infant daughter, whom he took in as his own. Some time later, Barret had a gun grafted to his arm and joined AVALANCHE to get revenge on the Shinra.
